Had surgery to implant a cardiac monitor.

Noticed a lump on a lymph node under my left arm.  Thought it was possibly due to surgery because I was very sore and swollen.  3 weeks later, swelling is going down, but lump hurts.  Saw my Internist and she said to call the heart surgeon.  Heart surgeon says to get a mammogram.  Internist orders a mammogram with ultrasound.  I did them.

Had another mammogram and ultrasound with 4 biopsies.

This is Friday the 13th and it has lived up to its reputation.  The doctor called me and said I have Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (breast cancer) and it has spread to my lymph node.  He recommended a double mastectomy and referred me to Hope Cancer Center in Tyler.

I gave this a lot of thought over the weekend.  A lot.  David and I discussed my options and we both decided to obtain a referral to MD Anderson Hospital in Houston.  Referral was sent immediately, records sent, questions answered over the phone, etc.  My first appointment will be Saturday, 11/28/20 for a Covid test.  Monday, 11/30/20, I have 6 appointments so far.  Doctors, imaging, etc.  It's 200 miles and we will be staying with Courtney in Pearland this trip.

6 hours in Imaging this morning/afternoon.  Another biopsy.  They found another tumor that wasn't found in Tyler, so I'm glad I came to Houston.  I saw 2 doctors this afternoon.  I need to wait until the genetic testing results are back, along with the biopsy results.  I need to get clearance from my cardiologist, too.  After the doctors at MD Anderson have everything they need, we can move forward.  Right now, it looks like chemo first, then surgery, then chemo again, then radiation.  I have another appointment at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow and then David will take me home again.  I'm awaiting an appointment with a GI guy to explore why I've been coughing for the past 4 months.  Oh, yeah, my Covid test was negative, so I had some good news.....
