4/20/21 - Today is Monday.

It's been several days since I've written, but they were slow news days.  My Sweet's Syndrome was gone on Thursday, but that was the only newsworthy item.  I felt good enough for a car ride on Friday, so David took me to Pearland (south of Houston) for a 200 mile ride so I could see my Grandson play T-ball on Saturday morning.  It was SO worth it.  It was freakin' hilarious!  He's 4, and by far, the best player on the team.  Most of them hit the ball and then go get it themselves.  I laughed and laughed and laughed.  It was good for the soul.  We spent the weekend down there and drove home yesterday.  I slept in the car and slept pretty well last night, too.  I only got up twice in the night, and was able to go right back to sleep.

My fingernail never did come all the way up, so that's good news.  I haven't lost any so far, but they're breaking off below the quick and it's a pain.  I just had to take a break and doctor David's finger.  He cut through the nail bed with a chop saw, I believe.  Sigh.

I had chemo this morning.  I drove myself!  That's the only place I've driven and I don't make any side trips.  It was supposed to take 2 hours this time.  Since I didn't have any allergic reactions to the poison the first 2 times, they can have it drip at a much faster pace.  They watch me very closely and check my vitals often.  However, they had trouble with my port today.  Couldn't draw blood for some reason, and I have to have that done first thing to see if my counts are good enough for the treatment.

The needle went into the port easily, but nothing was coming out.  Ok, she says 'cough'.  Nothing.  'Raise your right arm'.  Nada.  'Raise your right arm and cough at the same time'.  Zip.  'Ok, lay back in the recliner and cough'.  Still nothing.  I did the Hokey-Pokey and turned myself around, but she'd already left to retrieve some other medieval torture device to try.  When she came back, she fussed with it some more and finally got blood.  Hooray!  I waited for the lab results and she said they were good enough to begin.  Another Hooray!  Then I waited a long time for the pharmacy to mix up the concoctions.  It was nearly full in the treatment room today, so everyone was really busy.

I get an anti-nausea drip and then a Benadryl drip before the poison starts.  Then I get cold.  Out comes the heated blanket.  Ah, yes.  Mucho Bettero.  I got the shakes and they kept a close eye on me, but I finished everything.  3-1/2 hours.  So much for the new 2 hour routine, huh?  I have an hour drive, so my morning lasted 4-1/2 hours.  I was soooo tired by the time I got home.

My blood work wasn't so hot this week.  Phooey.  My red blood count went up .1%, but that was the only good thing on my report card.  Geez.

Some people I know are getting close to exceeding the limits of my medication...... You know who you are.
