5/24/21 - Monday

David took me to the doctor this morning since I have a boot on my right foot and driving is difficult enough as it is.  Plus, it was in rush hour traffic and I just was not comfortable making the trek this morning.  They didn't take blood till last today (error on their part), so I didn't get the results.  However, they said they would call if the numbers weren't good enough to have chemo tomorrow, and no one called.  So, I'm going tomorrow as scheduled.  I shouldn't be there quite as long, tho, because there will be no labs tomorrow.

My infection has not completely cleared up yet, so I'm back on antibiotics again.  10 more days.  Oh, well.  My white count is too low and I don't have enough lymph nodes to help.  My dosage for chemo has been lowered so that I can tolerate the symptoms, so I hope that helps with me fighting this infection.  I have to make up the week I missed, however, so my chemo is not scheduled to end until 6/29.  That will be my last treatment.  I hope.  6 more weeks.  I made it the first 6 weeks at a high dose, until I had to stop.  So, I hope to make it till the end of this next stretch with a reduced dose.  She did mention that it has a cumulative effect, so don't get my cart ahead of the horse.

My foot feels better today and I called the doctor's office this morning (as I was instructed), but no one called me back all dang day.  You watch.  They'll call the house while I'm at chemo.  If they call my cell phone, I probably won't hear it if I'm at chemo, either.  I turn the volume off, so as not to disturb the rest of the patients while getting treatment.

My heart rate has slowed down to an acceptable level, my mouth sores are nearly gone, and my nose has quit bleeding.  My body has surely liked this little break, but I'm afraid once I start up again - all bets are off.  We'll see how long I last.  Any bets?

Remember me posting yesterday about a pair of black panties clinging to the velco on my boot?  Well, the saga continues.  I put them in the wash (finally), then the dryer, then folded the pile of laundry.  All was well.  I was working in my office when the doorbell rang.  By the time I got to the door, the FedEx guy was nearly back in his vehicle.  He had delivered a huge box at the front door.  I went outside to check it out - see who it was for, from, and how heavy the box was, etc.  When I bent over to check it out, I realized I now had the same pair of black panties (now clean) clinging to the side of my boot.  For Heaven's sake!!!  I had just posted in this blog about how horrid it would be to have something like that happen.  I'm sooooo glad the delivery guy was walking away by the time I found it.  What are the odds?!?  He'd be home, eating dinner with the wife and kids in the evening and saying 'you'll never guess what I saw today!  A bald lady with panties clinging to the side of her boot'.  I can see his wife saying 'what?!?'  Yeah, that would be me.  Glad I could provide some excitement in your day.....

I got a postcard in the mail a couple of days ago and it had the funniest saying on it.  I just have to share.  Well, actually, I got 2 in the mail this week and they both made me laugh out loud, so I'll share both.

The difference between cake, and your opinion, is that I asked for cake.

Is that funny, or what?

Second postcard:

Raisin cookies, that look like chocolate chip cookies, are the reason I have trust issues.
