It’s Friday! And I just got home! Was a long drive today, and traffic was horrible, but it’s good to be here. I can stay until Monday afternoon. I have morning appointments next Tuesday, so I have to be back. My calendar really filled up today as MD Anderson added on appointments. I will be driving my car back to Houston. David is going to stay here and take care of the house. I will be healed enough to drive myself around. I only have a couple of more days to be cautious of my biopsy site.

Speaking of biopsy, the doctor called me on our way home this afternoon to tell me to have a nice weekend because my biopsies were all benign! She wanted to make sure I knew that, so I could have a nice weekend at home. Good news! I finally got some good news.

She also mentioned that my blood counts were too low. She will not start radiation unless they go up. So, I’m scheduled for more bloodwork on Friday. If they haven’t risen enough by then, they will have to give me something to raise my counts. I had to be hospitalized for that last time, but I don’t know what they will do this time. I didn’t think far enough ahead to ask that. Maybe another week will be enough for them to go up enough so it won’t matter.

I’m not losing my voice anymore. My shaky hands are almost gone. I’m starting to eliminate the chemo in my body, I guess. Some crappy things are still hanging around, but at least I see some improvement. I have a lot of appointments with physical therapy, so I can jump through the other Medicare hoops in order to get my torso pressure machine. My lymphoma is a pain in the butt. I had an appointment late this morning with a pain specialist, and she is going to see what she can do with pain management, including my back. i’m allergic to all the opioids, so most medication‘s are not an option. I guess I was just never cut out to be a drug addict. Oh, well.

My hair on my head continues to grow, but it is still pretty short. It is white as snow so far. White hair is a small price to pay for all of this wisdom.

I have a helpful hint for you today. It’s the secret of enjoying a good wine.

1. Open the bottle to allow it to breathe.

2. If it does not look like it’s breathing, give it mouth-to-mouth.

  1. Hey my friend! I’ve been following along and feel just terrible about what you are going through. What great news to hear that your biopsy was benign. Praise the Lord!!
