It’s Friday, and my day started early. I was at MD Anderson by 7 AM for my bloodwork. I flunked again. I have got to start studying harder for those tests. My white blood count only went up .3, and I won’t know until Monday if that’s good enough to start radiation. I went back this afternoon for a radiation session, but without the radiation. It was a dry run. They marked up my body again, so now I have red and blue sharpie marks all over my torso. It looks like a three-year-old was coloring on my body.

I was there about an hour and a half for this appointment. They put me in the machine, put my mask on me, and strapped me down. There were laser lights on the ceiling and I had to watch them the entire time. There was a green rectangle box and about 4 feet away from that box there was a blue line. There was a yellow line I could see when I was breathing. I had to hold my breath, and that yellow line would move toward the green rectangle. When the yellow line reached the inside of the rectangle, I had to hold it there. It’s harder than you think. Sometimes I held it for a short duration, and sometimes a long time. It took some practice to get that yellow line to stay inside that rectangle. All the time I was doing that, the machine had these giant arms that kept going around me. No one was in the room with me, but I could hear them telling me what to do on the speaker. They took more x-rays, put some more marks on my abdomen and chest, and I left.

I didn’t see the doctor today, so I don’t know for sure if they’re going to start radiation on Monday or not. I have another blood test first thing Monday morning, so they may wait for those results before they make up their mind. I don’t know. I have three appointments on Monday, so I should have some answers by the end of that day. I did not have my CAT scan results back yet, unless they don’t put those on my chart, and only release them to the doctor.

I have a lot of exercises to do every day, so they take up a great deal of my time. I was in the RV this evening when the storm rolled in. Wow! The RV was shaking. We had lots of wind, rain, thunder, and lightning. I could see lightning strikes all around me and it was blooming so very, very loud. I lost Internet, but no power, so I’m not sure when this post will actually go out.

No matter what life throws at me, at least I can say I don’t have ugly children.

I’m glad I married. Being single must suck. All they do, all the time, is whatever they want.

  1. Patty, wondering what the big machine is with the laser lights on the ceiling that you were in? What was the purpose of that? Sounded like a strange video game. Wondering if that helps guide the docs for your radiation treatment?
