Sunday

I cannot remember what I said in my last post. Dang it. I know I haven’t posted anything since Friday, though. Courtney and Warren came over to visit yesterday. They fished for quite a while in the lake right behind me. I stayed in the RV and watched them through the window the whole time. It was quite entertaining. They came back inside for a little while and then went to the pool. I got to visit with them in between each activity, and it was really nice. Friday night, a storm came over. David and I were watching a movie and listening to it thunder. Then we heard a freight train. David turned the volume down on the television so we could hear a possible siren going off, because there are no trains near us. We didn’t hear any sirens, but it sure was creepy. We considered leaving the RV and going down to the rec hall. This RV is no match for a tornado. After a few moments, we didn’t hear the train anymore, so we stayed put.

My throat is getting better each day, I can eat soft food now, but not very much. It’s still easier to eat, than to drink. I still can only take one sip at a time. David has been making sure I take my medicine on time, but he just left to spend the afternoon/evening at Courtney‘s. I am going to be alone. He has lined everything up and left me a chart, so I can make sure I take everything on time. He’s fixed me food, too. I brought home eight new prescriptions from the hospital. Those are in addition to everything else I was already taking. The counter in the RV looks like a friggin pharmacy.

I was told on Friday that the radiation burns would be the worst 2 to 3 weeks after I finished. I thought after my last radiation appointment, I would begin to heal. Boy, was I wrong. That’s what I get for doing my own thinking. No one told me that in the beginning and it’s nowhere in the publications they gave me to read. So, instead of six weeks of this stuff, it’s going to last nearly 9 weeks.

My hair is growing and Warren likes to rub my head. My ugly fingernails have almost grown out. I figure another two weeks or so and the icky stuff will be gone.

Tomorrow is going to be a long day for me. David will take me downtown to the main campus of MD Anderson. He will drop me off and then he’s headed back home. I have an appointment with an ophthalmologist at 10 AM. Little bumps have been growing in my eyes and they are quite annoying, so they’re going to check them out. Appointment will last for two hours. Courtney will come pick me up from the hospital and take me straight to radiation. After my treatment, she will bring me back to the RV. The representative for the trunk pressure suit will meet me at the RV at 2 PM. She will measure me and order my suit. I should have it within the next five days. Courtney will stay with me until Jessica comes to relieve her. Jessica will spend the night with me. David has a doctor appointment Monday afternoon, so he needs to go back. He will mow the lawn and pick up the mail from the post office and then he will be back down here.

It sure will be nice when I don’t need a babysitter any longer. My family sure is a big help when I need it, that’s for sure. I appreciate everything so very much.

I am at that delusional age, where I think everyone my age looks older than I do.

I have a tip for everyone today: never trust an electrician who has no eyebrows.
