This is Wednesday. I started out the day going to the ophthalmologist. He cauterized the tear ducts in the bottom of both of my eyes. He said he was going to numb my eyes with drops. They are not as effective as an injection, but he said that was rather uncomfortable and I would probably prefer the drops. That’s a yes, sir. He waited a minute, then put in a second set of drops.  He told me it would be relatively painless. Relatively? Well, it was relatively painless for him, but not so much for me. It felt somewhat like a tiny hot poker being jammed in my eye, over and over. After he finished the left eye, he began on the right. I was dreading it. At that point, I wish I had someone’s hand to hold. David was in the waiting room and the doctor asked him if he would like to come back with me. However, David had quickly and politely declined the offer. So, I mustered up my inner strength and they proceeded to do my right eye. It turned out to be a tad bit worse than my left eye, which was not so pleasant, but I made it through and only imagined in my mind that I slapped the doctor across the face. One more experience to put under my belt. If you are ever asked if you want your eyes to be cauterized, I would advise you to say no.

After that appointment, David brought me home. We had about a half an hour to burn before my radiation appointment. I changed into my smock and got in a five minute nap before my phone rang. Oh, well. Radiation took a little longer today and we were there about an hour, because they still had one machine down. After radiation, we drove west a little bit to the Methodist hospital. I had an appointment to get my Covid booster shot today. While I was there, I asked if David could get his too, since he is my only caregiver. They said sure. So, we both got our injections today. Now, tonight, my right arm is sore. Not terribly sore, mind you, but it’s sore enough that I don’t want to sleep on it. And, of course, that’s the side I’m supposed to be sleeping on because of all the fluid swelling me up like a balloon, and my burns. This is gonna be a great night, I can already tell. The recliner is looking better and better.

We came on back to the RV and I got a shower and put on my burn medicine. Courtney and Warren came to visit us about 4:30 PM this afternoon. I watched out the back window while they fished, and then Warren and I played inside while David and Courtney made us dinner. After dinner, David and Warren went swimming for a while. It was a delightful visit today.

After three appointments again today, I was tired of doctors and needles. I only have one appointment tomorrow, and one on Friday. Only radiation. I am so thankful for that. I only have five days of treatment left. I have several doctor appointments on Tuesday and Wednesday, however.

Food for thought:

Wouldn’t it be ironic if Popeyes chicken was fried in Olive Oil?

Here’s a diet tip for the day:

If you think you’re hungry, you might just be thirsty. Have a bottle of wine first, and then see how you feel.
