Today is Monday. I left the house at 6:20 a.m. this morning for the hospital for my pre-op appointment. I was so afraid they would cancel the surgery on Thursday because my white count is so low. I went through the whole process and then the doctor came in and said my count was too low to have surgery. He was very nice, and very sorry. I asked him what it was and he said "2.8". I shouted and did a little happy dance in the exam room. He must have thought I was nuts. He was grinning from ear to ear and said he'd never seen someone so happy to have their surgery cancelled. I said my count went from 1.6 to 1.9 and now it's 2.8!! (That's still in the red, but I'm headed in the right direction). He said well, that was a whole different story. I told him I could get it up even more by Thursday! Long story, short - I passed. He gave me permission to have my surgery. I should mention here that he saw my Aggie pocket calendar. He said he was a fellow Aggie and gave me a high five. I told him it was my husband and all my kids. He said that was good enough. I have to take some special precautions to avoid an infection, but it's worth it. I'll do anything at this point. I'd give them my first born. (Sorry, Stacy).
I came home and Warren was playing in the den, but there was no sign of anyone else, so I just sat down and played with him for awhile until the household came to life. Courtney and Warren went home this afternoon and it was sad to see them go. I enjoy their visits so very much.
I had to charge up my stimulator in my back today even though I'm not using it, and then charge the charger. It has to be 'viable' on Thursday, or they won't replace it. The leads will remain up my spine just as they are. They haven't moved in 7 years, so they're probably not going anywhere now. They're just going to take out the old battery connected to the leads and put the new one in. They do some drilling in my bone this time, so that's a bit different, but this should be an easy surgery. It's outpatient, so I'll be home the same day. They can't move the leads up any further because scar tissue has formed in the tiny canal where the leads are inserted. I hope this does the trick. I do I do I do I do I do.
Tomorrow is a free day. Wednesday is a CT scan w/contrast of my chest. More needles. Thursday is surgery. Then, I don't have anything (so far) until next week. I'll just heal.
David went to the store, but couldn't get 1/2 the items on my list. The other 1/2 are close replicas of what I wanted. They're still blaming it on 'supply chain issues'. Gads. How long is this going to last?
I heard they were panic-buying in Germany. Fighting over cheese and sausage, for Heaven's Sake. It's a Wurst Kase scenario.
France is worse. The stores look like a tornado hit them. All that's left on the shelves is de brie.
We even ran out of toilet paper again. Good grief. Just before Courtney got here we were using old newspapers. Times are rough.
oh garsh...your jokes! :o) love it!
