3/29/22

It's Tuesday and I'm nearly finished packing.  We leave tomorrow and will be home late on 4/8.  9:59 p.m., to be exact.  Anyone want to visit Tyler's scenic airport at 9:59 p.m. on Friday, 4/8?  If so, please state your name, occupation, and social security number to apply online.  If applying in person, simply text, then show up with enough space in your vehicle for 2 additional adults, 1 suitcase and one carry on bag.  Driver will be compensated for their time.  Maybe lunch.  I'm still thinking about it.  My lovely neighbor has offered to take us tomorrow, so that's good.  She's an angel.

I was trying to fit into 2 carry-on bags, but my pressure suit takes up an entire bag, so we'd be left toting 2 more, in addition to that one.  Medical equipment doesn't count as a carry-on, but David would be loaded down.  Then, when I was checking into our flight this afternoon, a notice popped up that David is a la-te-da card carrying member, and he gets one free checked bag.  Sold.  Geez, they charge $30/bag.  Each way!  That's ridiculous.  The stuff in our bag is barely worth $60.... I'm used to Southwest Airlines and luggage is friggin' free.  And, as most of you know, 'free' is one of my favorite 4-letter words that begin with 'F'.

My cold is definitely better, but I sure wish it was more gone than this.  I sound and look fairly normal (shut up) and hope to be even better by tomorrow.  I can't let a simple cold slow me down.  I am not wasting my minutes because of that.

My mail is on hold, along with my newspaper.  I've packed my new snorkel and mask, and I've got our boarding passes.  I am now free to roam about the cabin.  The only people who will see me in my swimsuit are David, the skipper, and Gilligan, too.  Wait.  Not Gilligan.  The first mate/cook.  We're paying them a lot of money, so they're not allowed to share any opinions about swimwear.  Besides, I read something yesterday and I'll share it with you:

It doesn't matter what you look like.  All that matters is the size of your heart and the strength of your character.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

  6/16/25 I’m back. By a show of hands, everyone that loves my charts, and patient portals, etc. raise those hands high! Hmmmm, I see none going up. I have sent messages on my patient portal on several occasions and heard nothing back. So, I call the office and leave a message, because you never get a real person the first time.   5/12/2025 It’s been five months since I’ve written in my blog. Several people are upset with me for taking such a long break. However, my life just hasn’t been very exciting these past few months. I will appease the masses and update my blog today. David and I went on a seven day cruise in January and I continued with physical therapy twice a week for my back. David and I took a road trip in February and March. We drove thousands of miles and stopped in to see a lot of old friends along the way. We made it to Vegas and we got to see Garth Brooks in concert. That was a lot of fun. We kept going through Utah and Colorado and finally made our way back home. I cut almost 10 inches off of my hair in March. It was my first real haircut in years. I had another sleep study done and saw the pulmonologist several times. He wanted a special kind of sleep study so I went back for a third one. He ordered me another CPAP machine, but this one has a different mouthpiece and I sleep pretty well ...

12/10/25 Thursday First of all, good news. My latest cancer test came back negative.  I am currently in Las Vegas, supposedly having a grand time, but I am not. I got food poisoning and spent all day yesterday in bed. At least when I wasn’t vomiting or had diarrhea. All dang day. By evening, I was so weak I could barely walk. The hotel called paramedics and they took me to the ER. I was there until 11:30 PM last night. Poor David. I felt so sorry for him. It was a horrible evening and I’m still weak this morning. I haven’t eaten anything since Tuesday evening . We’re supposed to fly home tomorrow. I sure hope I’m better than this by then. I got show tickets for last night with spectacular seats and David had to take them back and get our money back. At least we got to go to the national finals rodeo Tuesday night.
