It's Sunday and I'm a bit more rested up from our trip. It was a long flight home, with a 3 hour layover in Dallas. We ate at Pappadeaux (sp.?) at DFW and it was delightful. That certainly helped break up the layover.
I laid or sat on the trampoline in the front of the catamaran every chance I got. I loved relaxing out there while we sailed. I watched dolphins play and saw tons of stingrays jumping and flopping on their bellies. I even fell asleep a few times out there. When I wasn't in the front, I was in the back lounging on a long cushion, watching where we had just been. I could do that all day long. We ate at the table outside every meal because it got a bit warm while we were there. In fact, it was about 10 degrees warmer than forecasted. I wore a swimsuit all day, every day. I took 3 so they could dry in between swims, but they never really got dry. It was so humid.
We took the dingy out one evening into a maze near an island and I got lost. Good thing I wasn't steering..... We saw sharks in the shallows and chased stingrays from their hiding places.
We anchored every night except one. A storm was brewing and they didn't want to get caught out in it, so we docked at the state park for one night. David and I walked up to the campground to check it out, walked the beach, then snorkeled up and down the shoreline. It was windy that night, so they were glad to dock somewhere safe. It never rained during the day and the sun was out all day long until the last day of our trip.
We anchored off shore at a deserted island every night. Two mornings, I got up early and watched the sun rise. Gosh, it was pretty over the water. The sunsets over the water were even better. The sky was so colorful. Most nights, we never saw another boat. Just stars. Lots and lots of stars. We would snorkel and explore the deserted islands by foot. We picked up some cool shells and saw lots of Horseshoe Crabs on one island. They're huge. I'd never seen them before. Didn't look like crabs at all to me. One particular island had a lot of barracudas and David wasn't fond of those. Didn't bother me. I snorkeled and swam everywhere.
I wore my pressure suit an hour every day. We set it up on the outside table/bench, so I didn't have to be alone and hot inside the boat. It was hot enough wearing that thing for an hour as it was, but I had to do it. I had to pace myself so as not to get too tired for the next adventure.
Tomorrow I will have a shipwreck/shark story for you and one more snorkel adventure.
So glad ya'll had a great time!
