9/5/22

Today is Sunday. Tomorrow is Labor Day and Courtney‘s birthday. I haven’t posted since August 23, which I am now aware of because people have been texting. They’re wondering how I’m doing. We went camping last week in Oklahoma at Broken Bow state park. We were there all week. There was no phone service, no Wi-Fi, and no television. It was wonderful. I think David suffered some withdrawal symptoms for the first couple of days, but then he learned how to read again. I loved it. We were camped right beside the river and the view was wonderful. I walked some, but not too much. It made my foot hurt, but I could ride my bicycle all day long and it didn’t hurt a bit. We both rode our bikes, went fishing, played cards, drank wine beside our campfires, etc. It was a wonderful week. We got back late Friday afternoon, and Courtney and family showed up about two hours after we got home. They spent the weekend with us and left about 1:30 PM this afternoon. We had just barely unpacked the RV when they drove in.

My side effects have improved since stopping the last medication. My ocular migraines are totally gone, which is very nice. I’m not so tired and I don’t get nearly as dizzy now. My stomach cramps have nearly disappeared, also. When all of my side effects have gone, I’m supposed to start the new medication. I’m not looking forward to it. I thought my side effects would’ve disappeared by now, altogether, but they are tenacious and are hanging on.

We had a good rain yesterday and got 1.06 inches in 45 minutes. The lawn is looking much better now. I don’t have any appointments the rest of this week, but my lung scan is scheduled at the hospital next week. Then, I’ve got a few doctor appointments before the end of the month. I’ll have more blood tests, of course. I know I’m getting old. You know how I can tell? I’m so old they discontinued my blood type.

I am breathing better now, so hopefully the blood clots in my lungs are disappearing. I reckon I’ll find out next week. I got a few mosquito bites in Oklahoma, and of course they itch. Then I scratched. Holy cow. I look like I’ve been mauled. I’m bleeding a lot under my skin and it looks horrible. The blood thinners are really doing their thing. I cannot seem to get my bruises to heal. I got them on my shins over two months ago, and they’re still there. I need it to be winter time so I can wear long pants and long sleeves. I don’t want my picture taken these days because the photographs don’t do me justice. They look just like me.

Football season has officially started, so David is happy. Women would never play football. Do you know why? You would never see eleven women together wearing the same outfit in public.
