It's Thursday. Font-altering day. Changing things up a bit. This was a monumental week of sorts. I quit taking Tamoxifen. The side effects were driving me batty and I could not imagine living like that for the next 10 years of my life. That's how long they wanted me to take it. Or, perhaps I should have said I could imagine taking that for years to come, and it seemed like an endless nightmare. Well, even nightmares would be an improvement - at least it would mean I was sleeping.... It was not a decision I made lightly, since that's the last drug in the cancer arsenal. It weighed heavily on my mind and it wasn't an easy decision, but I'm sticking to it. I was told it would cut my remaining life expectancy in half if I did not take it. Well, like I mentioned previously, breathing is not necessarily living. I'll keep having scans and I'll keep my blood work up to date, mostly to satisfy others. My Give-A-Shit broke quite a while ago. I'm just going to do what I can with what I have. I take enough remaining drugs as it is.
My foot is getting better, so perhaps I can begin walking to get some exercise soon. Since I quit the meds, I don't get nearly as dizzy and I'm sleeping better. The day/night sweats are lessening, so hopefully soon they will be gone.
We had a delightful visit with my nephew and his family and our niece is coming in this weekend for a visit from Oklahoma. Next week, Stacy is coming home to see us from Georgia, I love seeing everyone and I love having something on the calendar all the time.
We finally covered the pool for the season. Just in the nick of time. Gads, the wind has been blowing and it froze the last couple of nights. Lots of limbs/leaves/acorns fell this week. I can't remember the last time it froze so early here. It's supposed to climb back up into the upper 80's soon, tho, so I don't think we're done with 'summer' yet.
Everyone has the right to be stupid, but frankly, I think some people are abusing the privilege. I spoke to a 'customer service representative' this morning.....
During his visit, my nephew told us he proposed to his long-time girlfriend and they are planning a July wedding in Alaska. That's on my calendar for sure. I forgot to tell him that before marrying someone, you should first make them use a computer with very slow internet - just to see who they really are. You know..... just in case.
