12/6/22

Today is Tuesday. We drove to Houston on Saturday, and babysat our grandson on Sunday.  Courtney and Ryan are training for the Houston marathon and Sunday was their day to run 18 miles. It was nice we were here so they could run together. The marathon is in January. We will come back to babysit again.

Monday morning David drove me to MD Anderson for my mammogram and ultrasound. Once again, I studied hard for these tests. All my effort paid off.  Both tests were clear. I had an appointment with the surgeon afterwards, and she decided I should come back to have bloodwork, a biopsy, and an MRI. Well, poop. One of the sisters is dark red and it has spread down my arm, too. It’s hot to the touch, so I’m thinking infection.  She’s not so sure.  Consulted with other doctors and they decided to opt for the additional tests.

I had labs this morning, followed by the biopsy. They are trying to schedule the MRI at the downtown hospital, so I’m waiting for that. I hope they can get me in by Thursday, cause that’s when we plan on going home. It wasn’t a needle biopsy this time  It was a punch biopsy.  This was a first for me.

My white count is up some, so that is wonderful. Not everything is where they’d like it to be, but I’m getting better.

I have yeast infections in several places on me, and there is no reason why. I’m treating those and they seemed better today than yesterday, so it’s working. They appeared literally overnight and were quite painful this weekend. Weird. I always seem to get weird stuff.

We were going to the Houston Zoo Lights tonight, but I’m not sure if that’s still the plan.  Tomorrow evening is the 1st grade Christmas program that we are for sure not going to miss.

I will get my stitches out in 10 days in Tyler at my regular oncologist’s office.  I should get a call with biopsy results on Monday from the surgeon here.

We were in the middle of the biggest traffic jam I’ve ever seen this morning when headed to MD Anderson.  I was 1/2 hour late and I figured I’d arrive early, for Heaven’s sake. They still got me in without delay. No sitting in the waiting room today!  The surgeon got caught in it, too! What a mess. I hate Houston.

Speaking of driving…. Courtney has a sign in her house that says:

My wife does all the driving -

I just hold the wheel.

Cracks me up.

I think I forgot to turn my scales back 15 lbs prior to Thanksgiving. I’ll do it as soon as I get home so that I will be covered through the Christmas holidays. If y’all forgot, do it sooner, rather than later. That’s just a holiday tip for you from me.
