1/22/23

It's Sunday. I don't have anything good to report and almost didn't post anything at all, but a friend nagged me into updating it.  The yeast infection on my abdomen is spreading.  It's annoying, to say the least.  I'll call the doctor again tomorrow.  I've had an ear ache for the last 2 weeks.  I ignored it, hoping it would go away.  Of course, it did not.  I called my ENT office at 9:00 a.m. on Friday morning and got a machine that said they check their calls on a regular basis.  I called back at 3:00 p.m. and left another message that said something akin to "do you check the messages every 6 hours, at least?"  That didn't work.  No one called me back.  Great system they've got.  I should put it on my house phone.  At 4:00 p.m., I gave up and went to an Urgent Care in Bullard.  I didn't want to hurt all weekend.  No one ever called me back at the ENT office, but the doctor at the Urgent Care has called twice to check on me this weekend.  It hurts a lot when I bend over because of pressure behind the membrane.  It's bulging outward.  It's red and inflamed in there and my throat has turned kind of white.  No strep.  Antibiotics, sinus meds and ear drops, are being used regularly now and I should be good as new in a week or so.  

I did manage to try on my new compression camisole.  It's quite a challenge to get on, but I can pull it off in a flash.  It's a Kodak moment to see me wiggle into that thing, but I want to find another one because it helps the pain in my side and back.  It keeps the fluid pockets at bay.  I'm not saying I can breathe well in this thing, but it's helping.  I cannot imagine wearing it in the summer, tho.  I'd pass out.

My hair is getting long enough to put a barrette in.  It falls out eventually, but I just stick it in there again.  It's still very layered because, of course, that's how it grows out.  At least I have hair again.  I'm a happy camper.

Everyone has the right to be stupid.  But, frankly, I think some people are abusing the privilege.  I read the newspaper today......

  6/16/25 I’m back. By a show of hands, everyone that loves my charts, and patient portals, etc. raise those hands high! Hmmmm, I see none going up. I have sent messages on my patient portal on several occasions and heard nothing back. So, I call the office and leave a message, because you never get a real person the first time.   5/12/2025 It’s been five months since I’ve written in my blog. Several people are upset with me for taking such a long break. However, my life just hasn’t been very exciting these past few months. I will appease the masses and update my blog today. David and I went on a seven day cruise in January and I continued with physical therapy twice a week for my back. David and I took a road trip in February and March. We drove thousands of miles and stopped in to see a lot of old friends along the way. We made it to Vegas and we got to see Garth Brooks in concert. That was a lot of fun. We kept going through Utah and Colorado and finally made our way back home. I cut almost 10 inches off of my hair in March. It was my first real haircut in years. I had another sleep study done and saw the pulmonologist several times. He wanted a special kind of sleep study so I went back for a third one. He ordered me another CPAP machine, but this one has a different mouthpiece and I sleep pretty well ...

12/10/25 Thursday First of all, good news. My latest cancer test came back negative.  I am currently in Las Vegas, supposedly having a grand time, but I am not. I got food poisoning and spent all day yesterday in bed. At least when I wasn’t vomiting or had diarrhea. All dang day. By evening, I was so weak I could barely walk. The hotel called paramedics and they took me to the ER. I was there until 11:30 PM last night. Poor David. I felt so sorry for him. It was a horrible evening and I’m still weak this morning. I haven’t eaten anything since Tuesday evening . We’re supposed to fly home tomorrow. I sure hope I’m better than this by then. I got show tickets for last night with spectacular seats and David had to take them back and get our money back. At least we got to go to the national finals rodeo Tuesday night.
