3/23/23

The date is cool today, isn't it?  I left David for a few days and he did just fine without me, but it was time for me to come home.  I changed his bandage after his first shower and he felt like a new man.  Smelled new, too......  I take him back to the surgeon tomorrow morning for his one week checkup.  I have physical therapy after that.  I missed therapy on Wednesday.  My eye appointment turned out to be 2-1/2 hours long.  I figured on 1-1/2, so I called and cancelled at the last minute.  I'd already told her it was a possibility, tho.  I met with the eye surgeon and had lots of tests done.  They dilated my eyes and told me they would stay that way for 2-3 hours.  Ten hours later, I still couldn't read anything.  Gads.  What a day that turned out to be!  I went back again today to have measurements taken.  Four different machines for that, but I was out in an hour.  I'm going to have cataract surgery on my right eye next Thursday, the 30th, and will go in very early on Friday morning for my post op.  The following Wednesday, 4/5, I will have my left eye done, and then go in early the following day for another post op.  I will have IV's and anesthesia for both eyes.  I have astigmatisms in both eyes and they will fix those, too.  My last visit will be 4/13 in the afternoon and we leave the next day for our cruise.  All my restrictions will have been lifted by then, but I will still have drops to put in.  No bending over, no lifting over 25 lbs., no rubbing my eyes, no swimming, no hot tubs, etc.  Those restrictions will be imposed until the day we leave, so I barely squeezed these surgeries onto my social calendar in time.  I am getting the $$$ lenses put in so that I won't have to wear glasses for reading or driving any longer.  Three months after my eyes are done, I'm going to have my eyelids lifted.  I had to take several of the tests over and over because my eyelids kept them from getting good pictures.  The surgeon said it's time.

I don't have any appointments until next Wednesday.  That's Brain MRI Day.  I'm hearing jokes from everyone about how they're not going to see anything up there, so go ahead and laugh.  Then Thursday and Friday are Eye Days.

I went to the ENT guy this morning because I still have my earache.  2 months now.  It's about time it left.  He doesn't know what's causing it.  He's stumped.  I'm supposed to apply hot compresses to my ear/jaw several times/day.  He says maybe my jaw is causing the issues.  Hot compress means wet hair.  So much for my new 'do'.  I got my hair cut yesterday.  I had her cut off the chemo hair.  Dry, stiff, stuff.  She took off about an inch, so most of my curls are gone now.  It was pretty sad to see them go, but I just couldn't get a brush through it any longer and it was breaking all the time.  My hair is falling out and I don't know why.  My counts are down, but I have no idea if that's a contributing factor, or not.  Anesthesia doesn't help my cause, either, and now I'm going to have more of that soon.

I'll be taking it a bit easier for awhile, but it will be worth it if I get to have fun on our cruise.  I'll gladly spend some time on the couch to prepare for this vacation.  Speaking of couches.....  What kind of potato works as a prostitute?  No, not couch potatoes.

The ones that say I-DA-HO.
