3/29/23  It's Wednesday.  I picked up our taxes today.  Ugh.  At least they're done.  I had my brain MRI this afternoon and I already got my results.  The tech was not used to inserting IVs.  He said almost all his patients are in-patients and already have IVs.  That explains why his first attempt blew out my vein.  Bad start.  He had to call in someone else after the 3rd stick and that guy got me on the first try.  My arm is so dang sore.  I honestly can't remember an IV hurting this much after being in so short a time.  I was in for 25 minutes, then they took me out to put the IV in.  They put me back in for another 15 minutes and then pulled me out.  I had no idea how they were going to do this.  I figured it was just like any other MRI.  I was wrong.  They put the ear plugs on me, then I laid my head in a headrest thingy.  Then they put something beside each ear to kind of lock me in place so I wouldn't move.  That was OK, but then he placed a face mask on top of me.  I had a hole big enough for my eyes and nose, but the rest was solid.  It didn't touch my face, but if I stuck out my tongue, I would've touched it.  He locked that onto the headrest and snapped it in place.  That reminded me waaaaay too much off my radiation treatments, but I held perfectly still for the entire time.  It took an hour for the whole thing and I was SO glad to get that mask off and get out of that tube!  My head was absolutely pounding, but I think it just hurt from that headrest.  I have to have another IV tomorrow morning at 6:35 a.m. for my cataract surgery, so I hope my arm heals.  It's the only spot left on my body that anyone can find a vein good enough.  I don't know what I'm going to do when that poor thing finally gives up the ghost.

I have Microvascular Ischemic Disease.  After reading my report, it sounds like a mild case, tho.  If it's something concerning, I'm sure my oncologist will call.  She's the one that ordered it - specifically to see why I have an earache after all this time.  It showed no reason for an earache.  big yay.  It's a narrowing of small blood vessels from wall thickening & plaque buildup.  As it worsens, it causes 45% of cases of dementia and is responsible for 25% of strokes.  Sounds ominous, doesn't it?  Well, that's not going to be me.  My doctor will say it's too mild of a case to cause concern and I'll just go on about my life.

Tomorrow is eye surgery day!  I'm excited and nervous, both.  I don't know if my vision will be wonderful tomorrow, or I'll be 1/2 blind, so don't expect a blog update.

Do you know what the left eye said to the right eye?

Between you and me, something smells.....
