Today is Wednesday.  Yesterday would have been my mom's 100th birthday.  She died 8 years ago and I still miss her a lot.  Gosh, people, appreciate your family.  Because when they're gone, you will wish you had more time with them.

I had back surgery yesterday and they removed my spinal stimulator.  I have two incisions to admire.  One is larger and is where the battery pack was resting.  The smaller incision was where my two leads went up my spine.  I was lucky he could pull them both out with no trouble because they have been in there for 8 years and I have a lot of scar tissue.  David took off my bandages at noon today and I can shower tomorrow.  It's difficult to sit down and get up again, but I'm up quite a bit to walk around the house.  I'm not allowed to get sweaty, so I have to stay indoors.  Oh, darn.  No swimming, or baths,  for a month.  They sent me home with wrap with stretchy straps that have Velcro.  I put two ice packs in the holder and wear the wrap every couple of hours, till they need to go back into the freezer.  They feel nice.  I'm addicted to them already.  It feels a lot better than when they put stuff in.  Just taking stuff out, is a heck of a lot easier than having hardware put in.  I have a 10 lb. weight limit for awhile, but I can reach above my head already.  This'll be a snap.

We lost our air conditioning last Thursday.  They came out Friday to fix it.  Didn't have the part.  Ordered it immediately.  It got here on Monday afternoon, they installed it, and the house began cooling again.  Five days in the worst heat ever.  We have 2 portable AC units and two of our neighbors each gave us one.  That worked for a bit, but we just couldn't get the house below 85 degrees - even at night.  They ran continuously, too.  We closed off all the rooms we didn't need, but it was still miserable here.  We took off for Shreveport on Sunday because I have free rooms at the casino.  I slept wonderfully.  We came home when the AC guy showed up.  We put in a $10,000 unit 2-1/2 years ago.  This is the second time they've been out here for repair.  Not happy.  At least it cooled down by the time I I needed to be home to use that special shower stuff for surgery.  I left home at 12:30 p.m. and got back at 7 p.m.  The surgery lasted 45 minutes and the rest of the time I laid there with the IV stuck in my arm and no cell phone to chat with anyone, play a game - nothing.  Security takes them at this hospital right when you arrive and they put all the valuables in the safe until you check out.  My throat is still sore from the tube that was placed down there, but that's my only ailment - except for my back, of course.

There was a lady driving with her 3 young children.  She was stopped at a red light, behind another lady driving a convertible.  The lady in front of her stood up and waved at them.  She was naked.  The 5 year old in the car said "Look, mom!  That lady isn't wearing her seat belt!"

You get a visual with that, right?!?
