Geez, it's been a long time since my last post. I guess that means I'm getting better - so that's a good thing. I had physical therapy in the pool for weeks and now I'm doing the exercises in my own pool, so I'm happy to not have to drive to do that. Plus, it's hot. My pool is 93 degrees now - and it's not heated.... We have a 12,000 gallon hot tub. I saw my ophthalmologist for my last visit for awhile (I hope). Turns out he can't help me any more. My vision is 20/30 and he is stumped as to why it's not better. He referred me to a Neuro ophthalmologist in Shreveport, Louisiana. I will see him next month. He says he's the best around, so I'll drive 100 miles for that appointment.
I saw a pain specialist for my back and got needled again. He gave me 4 shots in my back to try and numb it, but it only worked 1 day. I overdid it after the tornado hit by picking up limbs in the yard. So. Many. Limbs. I really screwed it up and could barely walk at all, but after several weeks of muscle relaxers and anti-inflammatory stuff, it's finally getting better.
I got shots in my hips yesterday for my bursitis and I feel better today. He really shot that stuff in there this time.
I went to the rheumatologist today to get the results of my blood tests explained.... the blood tests I had over 6 weeks ago! They said it would take 2 weeks. Yeah, right. I called them over a week ago because they'd cancelled my appt. earlier and couldn't get me in until late July. I asked for my results and the nurse said I tested positive for Lupus. Twice. She said not to worry about it. Sure. No prob. I immediately go the help of Mr. Google and ran searches. None looked very promising. The office called yesterday and said they had a cancellation today, so I grabbed it. Turns out I DO have Lupus, but it's dormant. Hooray! Yes, it can become active again, but I'll worry about that if it ever happens. My other tests were ok. Not grand, but I didn't expect any miracles. My liver and kidneys look fine, so that's wonderful. He said my only other option for my back pain is surgery, and I've been told that before. Degenerative Disc Disease with a healthy dose of arthritis thrown in. No cure.
My oncologist retired and I see my new one on August 16th. I had an infusion scheduled for today, but they cancelled that until I see my new doc. Next stop is MD Anderson for my scans.
Well, I can walk better today and my Lupus is dormant. Good news, huh? I'm just full of it. Well, I'm full of something, anyway. I had a good friend say it was a good day if I was still vertical. I am, so it's a good day. I told a medical joke to my doctor today and he laughed his ass off and gave me a hug. He said I made his day. I'm good for something.
