7/27/24 - Saturday
The doctor came in this morning and told me I could go home today. They stopped giving me shots in my stomach and switched me to a high dose of Eloquis to see if I could tolerate it before I went home on a weekend. So far, so good. I have all the drugs in pill form now and they even got me a better cough medicine. Finally! I had to walk with them for awhile to see if my oxygen level would be good enough so I didn't have to take it home. I coughed the entire time, so that kept it up. It kept my heart rate up, too, so I was worried about that, but they didn't seem to care. The nurse came in and told me all about my new drugs and gave me a novel to read that she had printed out for me with all the information. I will be able to use it as a step stool in the kitchen when I'm done reading all of it. David came to get me and I took the cough medicine and promptly fell asleep in my own bed and slept about 1-1/2 hours. I did cough, but it was much better. I'm still contagious until tomorrow, so I'm masking. Ugh. Doc told me I would feel crappy for several more weeks and my cough may last for months. Just take it easy. David went to get my drugs and the Eloquis was $516. With insurance. Holy Moly. That's a 3 week supply. They gave me just enough to last until my 8/16 appt. with my oncologist. I will be on this stuff for the rest of my life. Well, I'm home and not 6 feet under. I had a wonderful time with my family in Hawaii. I had a lot of new people to tell my jokes to in the hospital (and several kept coming back for more). I'm still around to torment my family and friends and thanking God for seeing me through this ordeal. He had to have a hand in it.
