11/8/24 - Friday
Holy cow, I've got to write more often or give this up. I can't remember enough between posts. Here's what I know... I got a new computer. It's really cool and I love it, however, I'm NOT used to the new keyboard yet. Might go back to my old one - not sure yet. I got an All-in-one, instead of a laptop since I'm not working any more. Yes, I had my old one for over 9 years. Hush. I know, I know.
I got a phone call from my eye doctor (it's easier spelling out eye doctor than opthalmologist) Ok, that's wrong and I'm not going to fix it. He's supposed to be evaluating my chart.... uh, huh. We'll see. Get it? We'll see? Ha!
Since I last wrote, I saw my pain dr. for my back. There's basically nothing he can do except prescribe stuff. Phooey.
I had a stress test at the cardiologist and that turned out pretty good. He said he can't provide evidence of a heart attack (or 2), so I'm taking that. Well, he also said he can't rule it out, either, but I'm ignoring that part. I'm on a low-dose beta blocker and it seems to be helping, so I'm good to go. They put an IV in me and put me in a tube for 37 minutes. Then, they pretended to give me a heart attack. I survived.
My nephew from Alaska flew to Dallas and we picked him up and he stayed for 4 days. THAT was delightful! The day after he left we got a storm. This is just weird. The storm only hit OUR house. No neighbors. Just us. It looked like a tornado hit our house. People were stopping on the street to observe the site. We had huge limbs all over. And I mean ALL over. They were in the middle of the frickin' street. They were at the neighbors' house. And, they simply covered our entire 1-1/4 acres. One of our Bradford pear trees was knocked over in the front yard and we had limbs all over the roof. One big limb was turned into a torpedo and fell 3 feet deep into our house via the roof. David had to use the chainsaw while balancing on the roof to cut it apart and pull it out. After that, I threw a fit and told him to call a roofer to fix it. He agree and put duct tape over the hole and climbed down. The roofer has yet to show up, however, and we have a huge storm coming tonight. Sigh. We had lots of water in the attic and some of my Christmas boxes got soaked. They said they'd be here yesterday - then today... yeah, right.
I went to Tyler for a sleep study last night. Well, David had to take me because I can't see to drive at night any longer, remember? He took me in at 8 p.m. and picked me up at 6:15 a.m. I'm sure he loved that part. I had to pee in the middle of the night, so called for the nurse to come help me. She had to unhook all the wires so I could get out of bed. She hung them all around my neck like a bunch of Christmas tree lights, and I walked across the hall to pee. They were on my legs and all over my head. I had straps across my stomach and chest. I even had wires up my nose. Good grief. I'll get the results whenever they get a wild hair, I guess. When I got home, I went to bed for awhile and then got my swimsuit on because today was the first day of my pool physical therapy. I'll go 10 times and then they'll evaluate my progress.
We were supposed to go on a date last evening, but we were waiting for the non-existent roofer to show up and couldn't go after all. So, tonight we went to Mario's for dinner and dancing. It was delightful. We danced a few and then I made a mis-step. David asked me what happened. I said 'my hip gave out'. He started laughing and couldn't stop. It was contagious. That got me laughing and that ended that dance. We could hardly make it off the dance floor, we were laughing so hard. It was a good night.
