It’s been five months since I’ve written in my blog. Several people are upset with me for taking such a long break. However, my life just hasn’t been very exciting these past few months. I will appease the masses and update my blog today. David and I went on a seven day cruise in January and I continued with physical therapy twice a week for my back. David and I took a road trip in February and March. We drove thousands of miles and stopped in to see a lot of old friends along the way. We made it to Vegas and we got to see Garth Brooks in concert. That was a lot of fun. We kept going through Utah and Colorado and finally made our way back home. I cut almost 10 inches off of my hair in March. It was my first real haircut in years. I had another sleep study done and saw the pulmonologist several times. He wanted a special kind of sleep study so I went back for a third one. He ordered me another CPAP machine, but this one has a different mouthpiece and I sleep pretty well in it. My social life has consisted of a lot of doctor appointments, and I went to see a dermatologist. That was an unpleasant visit because she found three spots that she didn’t like. So I had biopsies. That wasn’t much fun, either. They came back malignant. Skin cancer. One on my cheek, one on my upper right arm, and one on the top of my head. Squamous cell carcinoma, and, unfortunately, melanomas. That’s the icky one. I had the melanomas removed last Thursday and I’m having surgery on the top of my head tomorrow afternoon. She said it would take about two hours for that one. My cardiologist has put me on nitroglycerin and I’m scheduled to have an endoscopy in July. I have my cancer test on June 6. I go to MD Anderson for an exam, mammogram, and ultrasound in August. see what I mean? Just doctors, mostly. Courtney and her family moved in with us a little before Christmas time and moved out a week ago. They finally found a house. It’s only six minutes from us and it’s lovely, so they’re glad to finally have their own space. We had the three of them plus one dog and two cats. We got along pretty well and I’m going to miss them now. We helped them move, of course, and I pulled a muscle in my neck. Oh, boy! Is it ever painful! It’s been a week now, and I still cannot look up or turn my head to the right. I went to the doctor and got a couple of shots in my butt, an x-ray, and some muscle relaxers. I’ve been alternating heat and ice all week now. It’s much better, but I am very impatient for it to totally go away. They’ll have to shave my head a bit to get this cancer off, so I reckon I’m going to have a serious comb-over for a while.
The end.
